The obligatory 2017 planning post. I am a solo gamer, having left the NYC area where multiple strong gaming groups exist and moving to sunny (and snowy) northern Arizona. Luckily, a lot of my gaming enjoyment has been drawn from the painting process. Also wonderful to have such a video Bryant blogging community that makes one feel connected to a much larger group.
My number one goals for the year is to generate 24 blog posts. This will hopefully keep me trucking along towards fulfilling a few of the goals below.
* British: 1 Line, 1 Light, 2 Rifles (single 6-base unit), 2 Light Cav., 2 RHA, 2 Command
* Portuguese: 2 Cacadores
* French: 3 Light, 1 Grenadier (Guard)
Once Coa is completed, I will be on my way to being able to plat a number of other battles. I have selected a 'modified' Talavera. I say modified because I am going to fill out if both the British and French sides with Brunswick and Swiss foot, respectively.
* Paint units for C&C Talavera battle
* British: 3 Line (Brunswickers), 1 Light Cav., 2 Foot Artillery
* French: 3 Line (Swiss)
Need a base for this. I want each hex to be able to fit 240mm frontage, so something custom needs to be created.
* Make a C&C hex sheet.
I have a bunch of Plastic Soldier Company 15mm tanks that I bought a while ago for FOW (2nd edition). I am torn on what to do with them - paint them for some Chain of Command tank gaming, sell my 15mm FOW stuff and fully embrace 28mm, or look at 20mm WW2 as a compromise scale. All of my terrain is in 28mm (FOW was at the FLGS) - this should sway me, but 15mm buildings are getting very easy to come by. So as to not make a decision:
* Paint two 1000 FOW late war Normandy tank lists for some tank on tank gaming.
I have flirted with ancients for a while and gotten few Vassal C&C Ancients games in solo and with my brother. Therefore,
* Get ready to try Trebbia in 28mm using C&C Ancients
* Rome:
* two boxes of Victrix Romans in chain mail as 3 units of principles and 1 triari
* two boxes of Victrix Romans in pectoral armor as 4 units of principles
* three units of velites from the above
* one Roman general from Aventine miniatures
* Carthage:
* one box Victrix unarmored Iberian warriors as 2 units of auxiliary
* one box Victrix armored Iberian warriors as 2 units of medium infantry
* one box Victrix Warriors of Carthage as 2 units of heavy infantry
* three boxes Victrix Balearic Slingers as 3 units of light infantry
That leave 4 units of war bands (Gauls), 2 units of Roman medium cavalry, 2 elephants, 3 units of Carthaginian medium cavalry, 2 units of Nubian light cavalry, and some command stands as a second phase. Should be fun!
